WWII Draft Cards NEW Discoveries

Last week on Friday, I watched a video on the Genealogy TV channel about Ancestry's Updates featuring Crista Cowan-The Barefoot Genealogist.

One thing that she mentioned is the WWII Young Men's Draft cards.

"We entered into a collaboration with the National Archives about six and a half years ago. To all get their Young Men's Draft cards digitized, indexed, put online. FamilySearch collaborated with us on that. So, I think something like 300,000 volunteers helped indexed these records. And as of this week, they are finished. They are all online. " - Crista Cowan

Before I go any further into this topic, I want to say thank you to the volunteers for taking the time to index these records.

After that, I immediately searched for my paternal grandfather, Fletcher Pearson. Then I found him.

I was about to make another amazing discovery. I searched for my paternal great-grandfather, Anthony T Armstead. There I discovered what his middle name was as well as his wife, Clara.

I was ecstatic. I never knew what the first initial of their name could be. I learned that Anthony's middle name was Tony and Clara's middle name was Loretta. This was very interesting to find out because the nickname for Anthony is Tony. Clara's middle name is Loretta. The namesake for Loretta came from her paternal grandmother, Loretta Baker.

Do you have any amazing finds or discoveries? Leave a comment below and tell me about it.

Thanks for reading,
