Saturday Night Genealogy Fun- How Many Ancestors Have You "Met"

It's  Saturday Night  -  time for more  Genealogy Fun!   Your mission, should you decide to accept it (cue the Mission Impossible! music) is to: 1) Write down which of your ancestors that you have met in person (yes, even if you were too young to remember them). 2) Tell us their names, where they lived, and their relationship to you in a blog post, or in comments to this post, or in comments on Facebook. *Updated August 6th 2025* My parents and maternal grandmother lived in a multitude of places. To protect my grandmother's privacy, I will not include her below. My paternal  grandfather lived in one of the boroughs in New York City and lived in two cities in Michigan. Local History is Important Too

Have you ever looked deep within the history of your ancestors' hometown? Perhaps you wanted to know who founded a church your ancestor worshiped in. If so, you need to be researching your ancestors' local history. Why You Should Be Researching Your Ancestors' Local History? 1. FAN Club (Family, Friends, Associates & Neighbors)- You may find a collateral ancestor mentioned inside a town history or a book about the locality. Even if you don't find an ancestor mentioned in a book, your ancestor may have known a prominent figure(s) in the community. 2 .   Historical, Social, & Economic Context - Understanding what was going on in our ancestor's city or town , will put perspective on our ancestors' lives.
