What Kind of Genealogist Are You?

I know that Lorine McGinnis Schulze wrote a blog post on the same topic several years ago, but I feel there are even more categories.

So with that said, which kind of genealogist are you?

The Grave Hunter - Goes to every local cemetery and takes photos of headstones, then uploads them to FindAGrave.

The Reunion Planner - Plan every yearly family reunion. Picks the date, the location, and the place the event is held. Creates genealogy-themed activities.

The Learner - Always asks questions, attends genealogy conferences, webinars, and watches many videos. Always excited to learn and use new techniques and tools.

The Time Traveler - Questions every aspect of family circumstances. Tries to gather the whole picture. (Social, economic, historical context) (ie, why did so and so do that, how did they feel making that decision, how did it affect them).

The Cycle Breaker - Heals the beliefs, behaviors, and patterns for themselves, their ancestors, and their family.

The Traveler/ Explorer - Goes to their ancestors' homeland and walks in the footsteps of their ancestors. Visits archives, museums, and libraries to locate offline records.

The Volunteer - Help out at local libraries, societies, and conferences. May give free presentations to the public.

The Teacher - Gives talks at genealogical conferences, libraries, societies, and organizations.

The Storyteller - Tells many stories to family members that they may find interesting. The stories may even put them to sleep!

The TV Lover-Binge watches every new genealogy TV show the second it airs. May even watch reruns of them.

The Photo Collector- Have loads of photos in archival boxes or photo albums.

BSO Follower - You let the shaky hints lead the way to new discoveries.

Do you think there are others that I didn’t list above? Leave them in the comment section.
