Saturday Night Genealogy Fun - Where Were Your Ancestral Families in 1920?

 Calling all Genea-Musings Fans: 

 It's Saturday Night again - 

time for some more Genealogy Fun!!


Here is your assignment, should you decide to accept it (you ARE reading this, so I assume that you really want to play along - cue the Mission Impossible music!):

1) Where did your ancestral families reside in 1920?  Do you know their addresses or locations?   Have you visited the home? Who was enumerated in the 1920 in each family?  Are any of your ancestral families missing from the 1920 U.S. Census even if they should be in the census?

1)  Grandparents:  The Pearson family resided at 188 Slate Springs & Hardin Road in Beat 5, Calhoun County, Mississippi. The household included:

George Pearson -- head of household, male, mulatto, age 25, married, born in MS, father born in MS, mother born MS, farmer, own account, rents home, able to read, not write, and speak English.

Girthie Pearson -- wife, female, mulatto, age 22, married, born in MS, father born in MS, mother born in MS, laborer, own account, able to read, write and speak English


Fletcher Pearson --  son, male, mulatto, age 9/12, single, born in MS, father born in MS, mother born in MS


Rodie Burns-- boarder, female, mulatto, age 80, widowed, born in MS, father born in MS, mother born in MS, attending school, unable to read and write.


2)  Great-grandparents:  The Harlan family resided at 201 Mains & Fairfield Road in Beat 5, Noxubee, Mississippi.  The household included:

Griggs Harlan -- head of household, male, black, age 28, married, born in MS, father born in MS, mother born MA, farmer, own account, rents home, able to read, write, and speak English

Anna Harlan-- wife, female, black, age 24, married, born in AL, father born in AL, mother born in AL, no occupation, able to read, write.

Elisha Harlan -- son, male, black, age 6, single, born in MS, father born in MS, mother born in MS, doesn't attend school, not able to read and write.

5)  2nd Great-grandmother:  Annie Miles resided with her husband, Jerry Miles, and two sons, Mike and Robbin Pearson in Oakland, Mississippi.



6)  2nd Great-grandmother:  Sallie Harlan resided with her husband, Johnson Harlan, and five children in Macon, Mississippi. 


7) 2nd Great-grandfather: Charles Armstead resided at 2411 Carrington Street in Richmond City, Virginia with his five children. His wife died the previous year. 

8) 2nd Great- grandfather: Tracy Barton resided with his wife, Patience, and five children in Vestal, New York. 

9) 2nd Great-grandmother: Rosa Osbell resided with her husband, Fred and son, Fred, in Overton, Pennsylvania.

10) 2nd Great-grandmother: Josephine Rogers resided at 179 Spratt & Selena Road on a farm, in Marion, Alabama with her parents and eight siblings.

11) 2nd Great-grandfather: Calloway Rogers resided with his parents, wife, brother and two children in Radfordville, Alabama.

12) 3rd Great-grandparents: James and Viney Price resided with their two children in Marion, Alabama.


13)  3rd great-grandfather: Oscar Barton resided with his daughter’s family in Owego, New York.


14) 3rd great-grandparents: Will and Minnie Rogers resided at 179 Spratt & Selena Road in Marion, Alabama with their eight children.



15) 3rd great-grandmother: Rhoda Burns resided at 188 Slate Springs & Hardin Road in Beat 5, Mississippi with her granddaughter’s family.


1 grandparent, 6 great-grandparents (two can’t be located),  8 2nd great- grandparents (five can’t be located), 4 3rd great-grandparents.


I haven’t visited any of my ancestral homes. Maybe one day I will.
